After a happy life, Rex, age 79, is going fishing in that perfect river in the sky. He passed away peacefully on December 19, 2017, surrounded by loving family. Rex was born September 28, 1938, to Glen and Marie Heiner Taylor. He grew up in Ogden, Utah, and graduated from Weber Adult High School in 1965. He married Collen Cox; they later divorced.
Rex married Carolyn Shaw Longfellow March 30, 1988, and was a loving husband for 29 years.
Rex served in the US Army as a Paratrooper and sharpshooter during the Vietnam War, worked at Thiokol as an underwater welder and Hill Air Force Base as a plumber, retiring in 1993.
Rex was an avid outdoorsman who tied his own amazing flies and excelled at fly fishing. He always filled his hunting tags.
Rex and Carol became assistant managers at Camperworld at Echo Park in Coalville and Apple Garden in Bear Lake with Managers Dale and Lucille McAllister. Later they became Managers at Camperworld Pine Forest in Dutch John near Flaming Gorge. Ron and Sandra Hatch, dear friends, helped with the work there.
Carols mother, Dea Shaw Terry needed special care and moved in with them for four years. Rex was very caring and attentive to her, and called them both My Girls.
Rex was a member of the Mt. Lewis 3rd LDS Ward. His sense of humor and stories delighted his family. Rex was very supportive and loving to his step-children and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Kathy Scott, Bonnie Schmit and Bob Taylor.
Rex is survived by his loving wife, Carol; son, Danny (Staci) Taylor, eight step-children: Kathleen (Larry) Turner, Blaine (Cindy) Longfellow, RaNae (Frank) Dreesen, David (Vanessa) Longfellow, Richard (Trudy) Longfellow, Dennis (Cathy) Longfellow, Kenneth (Chrissy) Longfellow, and Lisa (Scott) Taylor; 28 grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren; and brother, Mark (Sally) Taylor.
