Richard Watson CampbellRichard Watson Campbell passed away at home with family by his bedside on August 14, 2012 in Ogden Utah.Dick was born in Ogden on August 27, 1927, the youngest son of Kenneth and Gertrude Campbell. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1945, then served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Rosemary Peterson on June 11, 1952. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this summer. Dick attended Weber College and the University of Utah, where he received a bachelor of science degree in economics and was a member of Beta Theta Pi. He graduated from the University of Utah School of Law in 1952 and was admitted to the Utah State Bar. He enjoyed the practice of law for fifty- five years, treating those with whom he associated with decency and respect. Most recently he served as the founding partner of Campbell, Erickson, Ference Hall. He was honored as the Trial Lawyer of the Year by the American Board of Trial Advocates in 1987 and also received the Professionalism Award for the Second Judicial District by the Utah State Bar in 2004. He acted as president of the Weber County Bar and had been a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers since 1973. Dick was president of the Exchange Club of Ogden from 1974-1975. His passions included fly fishing, skiing, golf, sailing, and good books. He will be best remembered, however, for the love and service he gave his wife and family. Dick is survived by his wife Rosie, daughter Cynthia (David) Erickson, son Jon Richard (Kathy) Campbell, 11 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Bill and Lyle. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Friends and family may call at Leavitts on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
