Richard Paul "R.P" Hampton, 79, much loved husband, dad, and grandpa, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Davis Hospital after a valiant battle with several health issues. Paul was born on April 4, 1933 to John H. and Marjorie Burton Hampton in Evanston, Wyoming. He graduated from Morgan High School. He served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed for several months in Germany. On February 27, 1959 Paul married Patricia Louise Green in Elko, Nevada. They celebrated their 53rd anniversary this year. "R.P." worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a brakeman/conductor, retiring in 1995 after 43 years of service. He took great pride in railroading and the association of his fellow trainmen. Paul and his family have enjoyed many fun times spent snowmobiling and boating, especially at Lake Powell and Bear Lake. They also traveled to many fun places in their motor home. He was the best husband, dad and grandpa in the world! He will be greatly missed by all of us!Paul is survived by his wife Pat and his three children: Kathy (Brett) Park, Sandy (Craig) Jones, and Brent Hampton. He also leaves behind his five grandchildren who he loved very much: Carson and Kimberly Park; Aubrey, Hunter and Logan Jones.He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Lloyd and Howard. A celebration of Pauls life will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 11 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the celebration.
