Obituary

Richard Otis Morse, 80, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 29, 1938 to Barnett and LaVern Morse, in Malad Idaho. His parents later divorced and he was raised by Blant and LaVern Webb. Richard graduated from Malad High and Snow College. He married Elaine Bissenden on October 12, 1962. Richard spent his younger years on the familys dairy farm in McMinnville, Oregon; the family later moved to Malad where he worked on the family ranch. Richard spent years in the aerospace industry and retired from Hill AFB in 2000. He loved spending time with his family and at their place in Star Valley, Wyoming. The time that Richard and Elaine spent traveling in their motor home were some of his fondest memories. He also took pleasure in capturing nature with his camera, bowling, and golfing. The last 11 years of his life were only possible because of his LVAD. He generously shared his experiences with perspective LVAD recipients. Richard was proud of his being the longest living LVAD patient in Utah and 13th longest in the country. Richard is survived by his wife Elaine, daughter Patty (Robert) Donohoo, son Lyle (Paige) Morse; stepbrothers Bob, Carl; stepsisters Jean and Margie; grandchildren Taylor and Mackenzie Morse, Taryn, Dilys and William Donohoo; and one great-grandson Grayson Granberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lyle, his step-brother Olan Webb, and great granddaughters Aspen and Charlie Morse. The family would like to give a special thanks to the LVAD team at IMC and South Ogden Family Medicine- specifically Dr. John Hemmersmeir. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 - 36th Street Ogden, Utah. The family will greet friends prior to the celebration from 12:45-1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donating to the animal shelter of your choice or the American Heart Association.
