Robert John Callahan, 82, passed away peacefully Monday, February 2, 2015 with his daughters at his bedside. Bob was born February 28, 1932 to John and Edith Callahan in Salinas, California. He graduated from Salinas High School and earned his accounting degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Bob had a lifetime love of trains and planes; he enjoyed his years as a member of the Ogden, UT Hostlers Model Railroad Club. Bob will be remembered by many as "Bobby OCallahan" the infamous auctioneer for the Union Pacific Employee Clubs annual conventions. Bob cherished a lifetime of travel memoirs both internationally and throughout the United States; as well as spending time with his family at Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, John and Edith Callahan, and his brother, Richard Callahan. He is survived by his wife, Janice Callahan of Ogden, UT; his daughters Mary Callahan-Lopez (Dagoberto) and Kerry Callahan, both of North Carolina;his grandchildren, Katelynn and Aidan Lopez, of North Carolina; his brother, Kevin Callahan (Sue) of Mission Viejo, CA; his sister-in-law, Nancy Callahan; and nephew, Patrick Callahan, both of Carmel.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Ogden George E. Whalen Veterans Home and Bristol Hospice for their compassion and kindness.
