April 9, 1933 – April 1, 2025
Robert Veryl Davis, 91, of West Haven, Utah, passed away on April 1, 2025, from pancreatic cancer. Bob was born on April 9, 1933, to Arthur Robert Davis and Harriett Guinevera Davis in San Diego, California. After graduating from Jamestown High in New York, Bob joined the Army and is a veteran of the Korean War. Bob got a degree in Math and despite his dyslexia, he worked as an engineer at Rockwell International his entire career.
Bob and Jill married in 1960 in the Los Angeles Temple, and they had 64 years together, as loving parents of four kids. He served in Scouting for decades, working with many youths, and earned the Silver Beaver Award. He also served with the Special Needs Mutual for many years including campouts. Bob served faithfully in many callings as a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout his life, including a mission with Jill to the London, England mission in 2003-2004.
He was a swimmer, a swimming official, and taught swimming until the age of 88 and was known as Grandpa Bob to many kids.
Bob wrote poetry for decades and was a member of the Ben Lomond Chapter of the Utah State Poetry Society. He has won many awards, and his collection is now published. Bob was cheerful and friendly and happy to talk with everyone and often shared his poems.
Bob was devoted to the gospel of Jesus Christ and his family and left a legacy of service and love. He is survived by his wife Jill Russell Davis, his children Krista Williams (Blake), Karen Barnes (Keith), Maya Kimberly Collinwood (Corrie Elston), and Steven Robert Davis (Kathryn) with 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great great.
A viewing will be Friday April 4, 5-7 pm. Leavitt's Mortuary 836 36th St, Ogden, UT 84403.
Services will be held Saturday April 5. Brief viewing 11:00-11:45. Funeral 12:00 noon. Wilson 5th Ward, 2333 South 2700 West, West Haven Utah 84401.
