Robert David Heywood's Obituary

Our much loved husband, father, grandfather and brother Bob Heywood, 66, passed away at his home in San Jose del Cabo on February 21, 2015. He was born March 12, 1948 to Blaine and Hannah Tompkins Heywood in Ogden Utah. Bob graduated from Bonneville High and received his Masters Degree in Accounting from Weber State University. Bob served in the U.S. Army for four years including a tour in Vietnam. He worked at Chic Armature for 10 years and then for the Federal Government for 32 years. He retired from H.A.F.B. in June 2008. In 1968 he married Nancy Porter and had four kids. They were later divorced. In May 1993 he married the love of his life Cathy Sullivan Shumway. Together they enjoyed life to the fullest. After retirement they spent six months of the year in Manila Utah by Flaming Gorge and six months in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. They enjoyed many traveling adventures together. He loved his time at Flaming Gorge fishing, boating, rafting the river, riding four wheelers and the company of family and friends. He spent many years hunting the area with his friends, brothers and sons. He enjoyed the winter months in Los Cabo Mexico, deep sea fishing, spending time at the beach where he liked body boarding and snorkeling. He enjoyed exploring all around Mexico with his wife and sharing his findings with company. But most of all he loved the time he spent with his wife, family and friends regardless of where he was. He always took care of everyone, making sure they always felt welcomed and enjoyed themselves. He is survived by his wife Cathy of 22 years; Children, sons Jason (Lynn) Heywood, Morgan (Tarra) Heywood, daughters Christy (Mike) Pierce, and Kc Eilander; Clint (Danielle) Shumway, Jason (Melanie) Shumway, Jacque (Jason) Brown, brothers Brent (Michelle) Heywood, Ted (Janiel) Heywood and sister Trudi (Larry) Rizley, and Aunt Frankie Stone. He was very selfless, making sure everyone else was well taken care of. We were all very blessed to have this special man in our lives.
