Robert Wayne McQueen, 93, of Ogden, Utah went to be with the Lord at his home on January 13, 2023.
Bob was born in Pierson, Iowa to Delbert and Opal Pixler McQueen on October 6, 1929. After Bob graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1948, he went on to study Education at Wayne State College in Nebraska, where he met his future wife, Mary Jo Emerick.
Before starting college, Bob served two years in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1953, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Education and started his first teaching job in Pickstown, South Dakota. He graduated with his master’s degree in education in 1956 from the University of Northern Colorado. This led to a very successful and fulfilling career as an educator and administrator, taking him to California where he eventually retired in 1992. Bob then spent his early retirement serving as a consultant for the Saddleback Unified School District until 2002.
In August of 1953, Bob and Mary Jo were married in Milford, Iowa. They had two children, David Blake in April 1956 and Tamra Fae in April, 1960.
During his retirement, Bob filled his time golfing, serving for the Rotary Club, and traveling with family. He especially enjoyed fishing trips to Alaska. In 2016, Bob and Mary Jo relocated from Orange County California to Ogden, Utah.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jo, son David and his wife Kimberly McQueen, daughter Tami and her husband Timothy Hutter, grandchildren Katelin (Josiah), Keegan (Tiana), Elizabeth, Hannah (Shawn), and Kailey, and great grandchildren Knox, Rory, Cruz, Buchanan, and Sage.
Bob touched the lives of everyone he met with his loyal, patient, and generous spirit. He will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held in Huntsville, Utah on May 27, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Bob’s name to Wounded Veterans and American Humane.
