Rocky James Fluhart passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2012 from Alzheimers. Hours before his passing our extended family had a "last supper" together to surround him with love and remind him to be led by Angels to his new home.Rocky was born on June 11, 1951 to Marie and Forrest Fluhart (Ozzie), in Norwalk, CA. He moved to Ogden, UT when he was 6 years old. He attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High in 1969. Rocky married Gretchen Lowe in April of that same year. They have two wonderful sons, Richard and Blake.Rocky graduated Cum Laude from Weber State then attended Kansas University as a HUD Fellow, where he received his Masters Degree in Public Administration in 1975.Rocky served as an intern for the city of Burbank, CA, and then moved to Lompoc, CA where he served as Assistant City Manager.In 1984 he and his family moved back to Ogden where he served as Public Works Director and City Manager. In 2000 he became the Chief Administrative Officer for Salt Lake City, UT. While there he assisted in steering the city through the 2002 Winter Olympics.Rocky had a real love for life and the outdoors. He spent much of his spare time hiking, skiing, and biking with family and friends. He was known by his many nieces and nephews as the best hide-and-seek player in the world. He truly lived his motto of "Life is good!"Rocky was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest Fluhart (Ozzie) and Marie Mickey. He is survived by his sister Betty Allen of Pacheco, CA, sons Richard and Blake, and his wife, Gretchen Lowe Fluhart.Family and friends are welcome to join us for a celebration of life on Sat., Jan. 14, from 4 - 6:30 p.m. at The Union Station, Old Timers Room, 25th Wall Ave., Ogden.In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimers Association at alz.org.Cremation under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.leavittsmortuary.com
