Rod D. Clendenin

October 25, 1957 ~ July 16, 2019

Rod D. Clendenin, of North Ogden, passed away July 16, 2019 as a result of an extended illness. He was born on October 25, 1957 in Ogden, UT. He was the proud owner of Rod’s Best Auto Care.

From a young age, Rod loved to fix cars. He started in the auto repair business at the age of 14. He worked hard to achieve his dream of opening his own auto repair business. For over 30 years Rod provided the best in auto repair and customer service. Rod absolutely loved to talk with his customers and always had a joke or two to share.

Rod loved life and spending time with family. Some of his many hobbies included snowmobiling, ghost town hunting, traveling, and hunting with his son and grandsons. He loved to be around people and always tried to make others smile. He was very thoughtful and caring and was always willing to help others.

Rod touched the lives of so many people. Words cannot express how deeply he was loved, and how missed Rod will be. We will honor his memory by continuing the work he loved so much. Rod’s Best Auto Care will remain open and will continue to provide the best in auto repair and customer service.

In addition to his loving wife and best friend, Penny, he is survived by his three children: Josh Clendenin, Mark (Talia) Nielsen, and Jenny (Matt) Hilton. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, as well as numerous other family members, friends, employees, and customers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, as well as his son, Kyle A. Nielsen.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00-12:00 on Saturday, July 27th at Rod’s Best Auto Care, 332 29th St. Ogden.

My family and I just found out. Rod was an awesome uncle (2 years older than me). He took me on my first double date, fixed my cars, and was my brothers and my favorite uncle. Always making everybody laugh. Wish we would have known so that I could have attended.
