Beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Rod (Rodney) William Nichols passed away after long courageous health battles on September 20, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving family. Rod was born June 16, 1953 in Ogden, UT to Harry William Nichols and Leila Stark Nichols. He graduated from Bonneville High in 1971. He married his soulmate Laurie Nizet on June 22, 1992. He served in the United States Army and was stationed for a while in Germany. He had many skills and worked various jobs before his career with the U.S. Postal Service. Rod loved being with his family and lifelong friends. He enjoyed camping and fishing, especially in Lava Hot Springs, ID. He adored being a grandpa. Rod is survived by his wife Laurie, son Ian, stepson Tyler Nelson (Janet), stepdaughter Heather Nelson (Greg Bobric) Tennessee; his sisters: Kathy Van Dyke (Bob), Nic (Karen) Rigley, Joy Robinson of Washington; his brothers: Dell Nichols (Becky), Dave Nichols (Barbara), Ken Nichols (Barbara), Duane Nichols (Barbara); and three grandchildren. Rod also had a special place in his heart for Kelly Stewart who was like a son to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Brian and his dear aunt, Della Stark. Funeral Services will be Friday September 26th at 2:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836-36th St., Ogden, UT.
