Obituary

Roger William St. George Hill, 79, passed away on May 12, 2017 with his family by his side. He was born on October 29, 1937 to Harold and Amelia Hill in Springfield Massachusetts. Roger graduated from Suffield High School in 1956 and joined the Air Force on November 23, 1956 where he served as an aircraft mechanic and received a medal for good conduct. He completed his enlistment in 1960 and moved to California. Roger began working at PDM Steel Fabrication in Santa Clara, California where he met the love his life and best friend, RoyLene. They married on March 29, 1972 at the San Jose State University Chapel and just celebrated 45 years of marriage together. Working in the steel industry they moved from Santa Clara California to Casper Wyoming where their first daughter Heather Marie was born. Shortly after he relocated to Layton Utah and worked for Mark Steel for several years. They later moved to Modesto California then Spokane Washington where their second daughter Victoria Amelia was born. They eventually moved back to Layton where he co-founded Blue Star Steel Manufacturing Company in Salt Lake City, Utah. Roger was an amazing family man. He was very active in his childrens lives and always took on a huge role in everything they wanted to do. Whether it was swimming, soccer, scouts, ROTC or softball he was right by their side cheering them on. He loved riding motorcycles with his wife RoyLene. The trips wouldnt be complete without their best friends Bill and Cindy Derrington and the rest of the Sluggs. Roger loved old vinyl records and has an extensive collection with Jazz emphases. He also bred, trained, and showed Rottweilers. Roger was Show Chairman and Board Director for the AKC Golden Spike Dog Obedience Club for many years. After retiring from the Steel Fabrication, he enjoyed working with the after school program at White Sides Elementary in Layton, Utah. The students called him Mr. Rogers! Roger is survived by his wife RoyLene, his children Heather and Victoria, his grand children Gerek and McKenzie, his great grandson Ford Royce and his sister Shirley. He also has a daughter Holly who lives in Connecticut with her family. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, his brother, his brother in law and nephew. A Celebration of Life open hose will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his home, 1881 E. Gentile St., Layton, UT 84040 from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm. We invite everyone who knew Roger to join us in celebrating the life of this amazing husband, father and friend.
