Ronald D. Van Buren, age 86, passed away September 27, 2017, in Ogden, Utah. He was born August 13, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Glenn and Ann (Fedor) Van Buren. He will be remembered as a man with a lot of love to give and he gave it generously.
Ron graduated from Cass Tech High School, where he first became interested in metallurgy. He attended Olivet College and Michigan State University.
He worked in the investment casting industry as a Metallurgical Engineer and Plant Manager for 40 years.
Ron loved the game of football. He played in high school, college, and club leagues until the age of 35.
His hobbies included stamp collecting, painting, gardening, and playing bridge.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol Carter Van Buren; sons, Brad Van Buren of Michigan and David (Loretta) Van Buren of Virginia; daughters, Dawn (Dale) Carter of Tennessee and Valerie (Craig) Smith of Utah; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Doug Van Buren and Glenn (Linda) Van Buren.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street Ogden, Utah.
Services entrusted to Leavitts Mortuary.
Inurnment will take place at a later date.
