Ronald Canter, Sr. (Ole Buck), 81, of Roy, Utah, passed away on May 12, 2019. He was born in Wellston, Ohio, on September 4, 1937, to Eliza Jane Canter. Dad grew up in the Ohio Valley with his three sisters Connie, Reba and Juanita.
Dad enlisted in the Air Force on September 25, 1956. He proudly served his country for 23 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served multiple tours overseas.
Dad always said he met a lot of good people throughout his life. He was a cowboy at heart. He loved horses and was an avid outdoorsman. There was nothing more he loved than talking about the Pony Express Trail and John Wayne.
Ron met Mary Alice Cummins while stationed at Schilling Air Force Base, Salina, KS. They were married on December 23, 1961. They were married for 20 years and had three children together. In 1986, Ron joined Sharon Hansen and her five kids. Dad always said he loved her children like his own.
Ron is survived by his first wife, Mary Canter, and their three children, Cindy (Michael) Garrison, Topeka, KS; Ron (Jeni) Canter, Ogden, UT; Michelle Wertz, Ogden, UT; second wife Sharon Hansen, Roy, UT; Cathy (Woody) Ward, AZ; Linda Wahl, Ogden, UT; Tim (Teresa) Becker, Ogden, UT; Marty (Sharlene) Becker, Ogden, UT; his sisters Reba Beatty, AR; Juanita Bruce, FL; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ron is preceded in death by his mother Eliza Jane Canter, his sister Connie Davis and Sharons children Shari Robinson and Davy Miller.
We will be gathering to share some of our favorite, memories, our stories, to laugh, to cry and remember a wonderful person who is greatly missed.
