IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Joseph
Valadez
March 24, 1953 – May 10, 2024
Ronald Joseph Valadez was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 24th, 1953, to Augustine Valadez and Jean Kramer. He rode his motorcycle off to heaven's early afternoon on May 10, 2024, after a long battle with kidney failure.
Ron grew up in the Chicago area, which was evident by his pronunciation of sandwich (Sangwich), but eventually followed his brother Wayne to Utah. There in 1983, he met and married Dee Steward; together they had two sons, Isaac and Tyler. They later divorced. He then met and married Amanda Coleman in 1995, and they had two daughters, Faith and Hope. They later divorced in 2006. Ron remained good friends with both of his former wives.
Ron worked for Harmons for many years prior to joining the City of Ogden, initially at Union Station in 1988, and later that year going full time for the water department. He worked on many crews within the water department, including the meter crew, leak crew, and maintenance crew, but Ron's true passion was evangelical work and preaching the gospel. He eventually started a church, Resurrection Ministries, and after many years of pastoring the church while also working for the city he was able to leave the water department and concentrate on teaching and preaching full time in 2002.
Ron would often go to the Utah State prison and hold Bible study classes for the inmates. He also had the opportunity to travel to India and the United Arab Emirates, preaching and teaching. He pastored for many years and truly enjoyed sharing his experiences and teaching in-depth Bible studies. Ron had a way of teaching that really made the gospels come alive in people. He always said that it wasn't him, but God working through him. He was charismatic, charming, stubborn and sometimes an asshole, but he had a way of reaching deep within people and helping them understand and see things more clearly. He eventually retired from pastoring Resurrection Ministries and worked many years for his son Isaac at Burbach Exteriors, in the shop alongside his other son Tyler and selling fireworks each year with the boys.
Ron was always a jokester, playing jokes on the kids, grandkids, and everyone around him. He loved to have the kids over for dinner, go to movies, shop, fish, bowl and golf. He lovingly referred to his daughters & granddaughter as his "babies" and spoiled them rotten. When Ron took up a new hobby or passion he would study, read, and try to perfect his new adventure to an extreme. He did this with golf, learning to play the guitar, bowling, fishing, karate, and gardening. He sold his prized truck to buy a van to haul around friends and his golf equipment. He learned to garden and planted each plant with exact measurements in between and won national championships with his karate. When he was passionate about something it was all or nothing. "If you're going to do something, do it."
Ron was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his children Isaac (Alicia) Valadez, Tyler Valadez, Faith Valadez and Hope Valadez, his grandchildren, Isaiah, Andrew, Josh, Kynlei, Kohen and Kourtney, his dog Achilles, his brothers Wayne (Lisa), Gary (Grace), Larry (Lisa), and sisters Donna and Amy (Peter).
We love and will miss you dearly. Stay stylin' & smilin' Daddio, Papa Poo Poo, Bonzie, Ronnie Roo Roo.
Ron's ashes will be placed in the cremation garden at Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park. A celebration of life and fireworks show will be held in July for all who wish to attend. Details will be posted on the family's social media pages as we get closer.
