Surrounded by loved ones, my beautiful wife, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Ruby JoAnn Gunderson Datwyler returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father April 18, 2013 at her home in Holladay, Utah following a difficult battle with dementia.JoAnn was an angel, a valiant and courageous example of faith to all who were blessed to know her. She was born on October 7, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married her ever faithful husband Darry L. Datwyler October 12, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity.She was an active member of her church and served in many callings including Sunday School Secretary. After graduating from South High School, JoAnn worked for Merrill Lynch and the Oldie Company. Later she worked for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as a project coordinator until her retirement. She truly was an inspiration to all and exemplified her Savior Jesus Christ. JoAnn loved everyone unconditionally and was an example of faith, kindness and service. Her husband and family always came first in her thoughts, deeds and actions. She enjoyed spending time with them and made holidays and other occasions special. She was supportive and kind to those around her, giving of her time and talents. In short, JoAnn taught us how to live.JoAnn is survived by her husband Darry, three children: Curt (Julie), Laura, and Cynthia, as well as seven grandchildren Collin, Jillian (Jason Silva), Garrett, Christopher, Gabrielle, Angelina, Alexandria and sister Elaine Schmidt. The funeral will be Monday April 22, 2013 at 11:00 at the Cottonwood Heughs Canyon Ward chapel at 6301 S. 2300 E. Holladay, Utah. There will be a viewing Sunday evening at the church from 6:30 - 8:00 pm, and Monday before the funeral from 9:45 - 10:45 am. Interment: Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery.
