Ruth Andrews Feeny's Obituary

Ruth Andrews Feeny of Ogden, Utah, died April 9, 2014, at the age of 88. She will be laid to rest with her parents John and Rhoda Dye Andrews at Leavitts Memorial Park. At her request, no funeral services will be held. Ruth was born in Ogden on October 31, 1925. She worked in her familys business, Federal Building and Loan, which later became Mountain West Savings. She attended Stephens College, where she studied marketing and was instrumental in the companys rebranding and expansion. She was a vice-president of Mountain West Savings at the time of her retirement and would later study to become a CFP. Halloween was Ruths birthday and also her favorite holiday. Her home was overflowing with decorations. She was known in her neighborhood as the Cracker Jack Lady for giving out the candy-coated popcorn every year to generations of children a tradition her mother started. Ruth was active in supporting many causes, her favorite being the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She enjoyed art and was a docent at the Utah Museum Of Fine Arts. She also enjoyed cooking, shopping, and traveling. Toronto was her favorite city and she had an apartment there for years. In her last years, she enjoyed reading and spending time with family and her sons Scottish terriers. She was a generous and strong lady who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Ruth is survived by her son Stephen T. Feeny and his wife Lee Knapp of Ogden, and her grandson Andrew M. Onstad of Chico, California. Ruth is preceded in death by her children John and Lisa and by her beloved sister, Virginia Andrews. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Eccles Community Arts Center.
