Sally L. Stene, age 85, passed away early October 30, 2022.
Sally was born April 6, 1937, to Albert and Ethel Cheyne in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from Shawnee Mission High School, Kansas City, Kansas. Sally earned a degree in Home Economics from the University of Kansas in Lawrence and went into teaching elementary school.
Sally married Edwin A. Stene on November 24, 1961, in Wauwautosa, Wisconsin.
Sally continued teaching in Denver, Colorado for a couple more years until the birth of their sons, Stephen and Eric.
Sally worked for several years as a substitute teacher while being active in sorority organizations and a bowling league. She frequently volunteered her help in events such as a flooding disaster in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1972. In Utah, she resumed full-time teaching in 1979, with the Weber County School District. Sally enjoyed cheering on the Utah Jazz, Green Bay Packers, and the University of Kansas Jayhawk basketball and football teams. Over the years, Sally remained active it many organizations including the BPO Does, Ladies of Elks, PEO, Beta Sigma Phi, and Eastern Star among many others. One of her biggest enjoyments was socializing with her friends and family and was always delighted by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sally is survived by sons Stephen and Eric, grandsons Colter and Kevin, and three great-granddaughters. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Ed, her father, Albert, and her mother, Ethel.
A memorial service will be held at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th St, Ogden, Utah, on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made payable to the Golden Spike Elks Lodge #719, P.O. Box 225, Roy UT 84067. Donations will be for the Elks National Foundation in honor of Sally's long association with the Elks.
