Samuel Lenton Hamilton passed away on September 15, 2015. Sam was born December 27, 1996 in Majuro, Marshall Islands. Sam was a 2015 graduate of Bonneville High School where he played trumpet in the band, was a founding member of the chess crew, and was the manager of the girls volleyball team. He was a student at Weber State University interested in a degree in Computer Science. Sam was the 2012 Northern Utah Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association where he raised awareness about his disease. Sam never let his disability hold him back. He played soccer. He was a Boy Scout. He loved to travel and see new places. Sam was musically gifted, playing trumpet, drums and piano. He was a member of the Weber County Honor Band and the Weber State University Honor Orchestra. He was an avid and skillful video game player. He made many on-line friends across the country. He loved animals and had a special ability to connect with them. Sam was proud of his Marshallese heritage and was trying to learn the language. Sam was blessed with wonderful friends throughout his life who saw past his handicap and just treated him as their best buddy and Sam loved them for that. Sam was the most kind-hearted, generous, and funny person imaginable. His smile and dimples lit up a room. He made it his personal mission to take care of his friends and family. We will all miss you Sammy Bammy. Sam is survived by his parents David and Vickie Hamilton, his brother Nick and sister Mallory; aunt Judy (Chris) Hennefer; cousin Ryan Rogerson; grandparents Malcolm and Jeanette Hamilton and Irvin Smith; uncle Glenn Hamilton; uncle Paul (Lynne) Hamilton; uncle Gary Hamilton; uncle Todd (Julie) Hamilton; aunt Barbara (Stewart) Smith; aunt Marian (Scott) Flint; uncle Morris (Sherry) Smith and many cousins. Sam is also survived by his birth family: parents Hertin and Toine Lavin; sister Kinta Lavin; brothers Joti and Herrington Lavin; and brother Brendan McCarty. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Helen Rogerson; uncle Kirk Rogerson; cousin, Toni Rogerson; and aunt Allyson Hamilton. A Viewing will be held Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Friends may visit with the family prior to services from 1:00 to 1:45 pm. Interment will be at Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Boulevard, South Ogden, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
