Obituary

Saxon Doreen Roush Wheelwright, 89, passed away peacefully on December 21st, 2012. She was born January 9th, 1923 in Tremonton, Utah to John Howard and Winifred Florence Roberts Roush, the second of five daughters. She was raised and went to school in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High in 1941. She attended Weber State College and Utah State University. She married Harvey P. Wheelwright. They had five children and were later divorced.Saxon, Sax for short, a unique name for a unique lady. The word that best describes her is caregiver. She was always ready to help, no matter who or when it was. One of the ways she demonstrated this was her many hours of volunteer service with the Pink Ladies at McKay Dee Hospital. Her family was her greatest joy and her highest priority. She saw parenting as helping her children through life rather than telling them how to live it. She was considered to be Mom not only by her five children and their spouses, but also by their numerous friends and neighbors who enjoyed her warm company and wonderful cooking.Saxon was strong, intelligent, and giving, with a calm gentle spirit, but always up for an adventure. She could charm any baby. She enjoyed bowling, bridge, and was well-liked by all who knew her. Countless residents of Washington Terrace remember her as the postmistress of the Terrace Post Office for over twenty years. She is survived by her children: Greg (Judy) Wheelwright, San Jose CA; Lon (Jamee) Wheelwright, Spring City, UT; Penny (Brent) Jepperson, Syracuse, UT; Connie (Doug) Bunot, West Point, UT; and Susan (Jack) Berger, Jacksonville, OR; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her four sisters: Elsie Whitmore, Velma Willey, Zelma Stewart, and Joan Isenberg.
