IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Scott
Richards
September 15, 1958 – December 23, 2024
With broken hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Scott Lance Richards early Monday morning after a valiant fight against colon cancer. He spent his last evening on earth surrounded by family and listening to his favorite music. Scott was born in Ogden, Ut to Mary Lou Moffat and Carl Eugene Richards. He graduated from Roy High School in 1977. He married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Lee Moon in 1978 and together they had two children; they later divorced. Scott served in the US Army from 1980 to 1983 after which he fought and won his first battle with cancer, Hodgkins Lymphoma. In 1986, he was reunited with his true love since Jr High School, Lori Hammer. They were married in 1988 and raised their blended family together. While working and raising a family, Scott attended Weber State University for a Bachelor's of Integrated Studies degree. He worked at Hill AF Base for 37 years; retiring in 2022. If you knew Scott, you knew he loved to walk. He walked at lunch every day while working and in retirement, averaged 15K-20K steps per day. Scott and Lori enjoyed traveling and had a goal of visiting all 50 states. Scott was able to see about half of them, including Alaska and Hawaii. Most people also knew Scott was a fan of the Beatles and in August of this year, he was finally able to check off a bucket list item of walking across Abbey Road and touring the iconic Beatles sites from all the songs in both London and Liverpool. Although we are heartbroken to lose him so soon, we take comfort in knowing that he lived a good life. He was very much an introvert and very quiet but he loved his family and was loved in return. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a niece, a nephew, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his wife Lori, daughter Kamie (Forrest) Vaux, son KC Richards, step-son Travis (Kim) Bennett, step-son Justin (Lisa) Bennett, 4 grandchildren, 2½ great-grandchildren, and siblings Kevin Wallin and Tana Dominguez Pontarelli. Scott was not a formal person so the family will host a casual Celebration of Life Saturday January 18, 2025 from 4 to 6 pm at Leavitt's Mortuary Atrium, 836 36th St, Ogden Ut 84405. Scott's favorite place to walk was the Ogden River Parkway trail so the family is adopting a tree in the Ogden Botanical Gardens Arboretum in Scott's honor. Scott was a generous man and donated to every charity that sent something in the mail. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in his honor. The family would like to thank the first responders and medical staff at Mckay-Dee ER and ICU for the excellent care they gave to Scott and to our family during his battle.
