Sean Paul Herrick
February 17, 1988 July 29, 2014
Sean passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at U of U Hospital Burn Unit surrounded by his loved ones. Sean was born February 17, 1988 in Ogden, Utah to Steve Herrick and Cherie Atencio.
Sean was a very special person with a true and sincere heart. Most of you that knew him could sense that. Sean has always struggled with feeling loved or accepted by others and also trusting in the validity of his own salvation. He worried that the disorder, addiction, and fears that he battled each and every day had somehow affected his personal relationship with Jesus. He kept associating his failures to his salvation, and could not grasp that God had accomplished his salvation years ago, and that it had nothing to do with his struggles and failures.
By Gods undeniable grace and mercy, He has been confirming to Sean these past few weeks that he is in Gods hands and his salvation is secure.
It has been such a blessing for our family and really anyone that he spent time with him this last little while to see this true sense of peace, joy and contentment play out in his life. Gods grace and love is more than we can put into words. Sean spoke about it often and how it was so evident that God was working so powerfully in his life in these past few weeks. He had written in his journal on July 29th that he was filled with such a sense of gratitude and love for others, and that he had been granted the peace in finally knowing and believing that others truly loved him (including God), this was one of the things he struggled with the most in his life.
There is a passage in the Bible that says Absent from the body-present with the Lord. God has granted us all who are left behind the certainty of Seans salvation and where he is right now, with no more pain, fear or struggles that he tried so hard to overcome.
We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. Romans 3:22
Surviving is his Father Steve Herrick (Bonnie), Mother Cherie Atencio, siblings Ryan Herrick, Kayli (Sean) Rivera, Jaden (Misty) Herrick, Sam Herrick, Sophia Herrick, Grandmothers Carolyn Conterno and Norma Kier. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and niece, and so many friends.
