Shirlee Housley aka Grandma Pumpkin passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at McKay Dee Hospital surrounded by her family. Shirlee was born September 13, 1939 in Logan, Utah to Osker H. and Wanda Kidman Morris. Shirlee grew up in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High in 1957 where she was a Drum Majorette. Shirlee married Reese C. Housley on March 6, 1957 in the Logan Temple and became a Navy wife. She lived in Alameda Calif. and Bremerton, Washington. After discharge from the Navy they returned to Utah where she spent the remainder of her life. Shirlee was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had a great love for her Savior Jesus Christ. She served in many positions. She was actively involved as a volunteer for the American Red Cross teaching many Water Safety Instructor classes, First Aid classes and taught many people including the handicap and disabled to swim. She worked at the Deseret Gym as pool manager and was the manager of the Washington Terrace Swimming Pool. Shirlee enjoyed camping and Rock Hunting with her husband, family and friends. She is survived by her husband Reese; daughter Nanette (Mike) Rogers; son Darrel and daughter Shaunna Housley; her sister Nedra Ripley of Reno, Nevada; Seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and her beloved cat Harvey. She was preceded in death by her parents, nephew Larry Price and brother-in-law Kevin Housley. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Monday November 4, 2013 at Leavitts Mortuary from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
