Sofie Katherina Overdiek, passed away January 30, 2014. She was born in October 26, 1930 to George and Emily Drescher in Mannheim, Germany. After 10 years of crippling Rheumatoid Arthritis plus high blood pressure battle, with help and direction from a wonderful neighbor, Mrs. Dianna Mecham, Sofies life was prolonged with modern medicine for arthritis. She married John Overdiek in Meinheim, Germany on June 22, 1960; divorced in 1977, and later remarried in January 19, 1978 in Elko, Nevada. Sofie passed with a great pride of her American Citizenship requirements. Her greatest pleasure when asked of her accent was: Im a bloody American. She was an excellent seamstress at Utah Tailoring Mills with her favorite boss and friend Mr. Bingham; they pleased many of the movie stars. She was very committed with her time and monetary contributions for the benefit of all animals the love of her life. She would not tolerate any abuse to animals. Sofie is survived by her husband John Overdiek; child Rosewitha Jenter, Mennhein, Germany; sister Erna Gajnos, Huntsville, Alabama; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother George Drescher and sister Emilie Drescher. Private Funeral services were held February 3, 2014, by Sofies request.
