Stan F. Halverson's Obituary

Stan F. Halverson, 63, passed away July 30, 2015 after a prolonged and valiant struggle with C.O.P.D. He was born, February 1, 1952 to Beverly Kershaw and John F. Howell in Ogden, Utah. He was later adopted and raised by Wayne S. Halverson. Stan attended Ogden High School and graduated from Ben Lomond in 1969. He married Robyn C. Berry on July 23, 1971 in Ogden. They just celebrated their 44th anniversary. He studied electronics and communication engineering at Weber State until 1977, and continued studying on his own as jobs required. He worked as an electronic system technician at ATK and retired after 30 years of service. "Stan the Man" was a kind man with a passion for life. He had an excellent work ethic and a joke for every occasion. He was always willing to stop and help others in need, even if he didnt know them. He had a generous heart and an infectious laugh. He could make anyone smile. Stan was a gifted mechanic who enjoyed tinkering and repairing anything. If he didnt know how to do something he would learn. He helped with many school projects over the years and for his daughter he created the best Valentines box, with her name in lights that Hillcrest Elementary had ever seen! He helped with science projects and helped build winning pinewood derby cars for more than one generation. He was always willing to share his knowledge by drawing a map or a diagram. He taught us how to do it right, and to use the "right tool" for the "right job". Stan enjoyed reading and playing soccer. He was a friend of Bill W. for over 20 years. In his service to the community Stan helped many people. Stan is survived by his wife, Robyn; daughter, Erin Matthews (Dave); sons, Wayne, Erik and Ryan (Rhoda) Halverson; grandchildren: Johnny Lees, Stian (Kailee), Connor and Andrew Miller, Nicole, Isabel and Phoebe Halverson; brothers: Steve, Ed, Mark, Jeff Halverson and John Howell; sisters: Ann Harlow, Karen Chapman, and Susan Henderson; father, John Howell; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne S. and Beverly K. Halverson; and his mother-in-law, Lois H. Berry. We would like to extend a special thanks to Heather and the staff form Envision Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care he received.
