Steve Richards

Just 2 days shy of his milestone 80th birthday, Steve Richards passed away, adamant he was not having a big celebration!

Steve was born on July 4, 1943 to Elmer and Alta Richards in Brigham City, Utah, where he was raised and graduated from Box Elder High in 1961.  He married Bona Jo Erickson, welcomed two children Sean and Jennifer, they later divorced.  In 1984, he married his best friend and the love of his life Pamela Mikesell.

Steve served in the National Guard for 37 years, worked in various rolls at Hill AFB, and retired with 35 years of service.  He was also a member of the Box Elder Jeep Patrol for many years.

From the time Steve was a child, he and his family enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping, this became a lifelong passion he shared with his children, grandchildren, and countless friends.  Steve was always the happiest with a gun in his hand, hunting bears, deer, elk, coyotes, geese, ducks and even rabbits.

He enjoyed golfing with his friends and played in many leagues throughout the years.  Steve and Pam played in many couples leagues and tournaments, often winning most of the time.  Steve’s golf clubs seemed to go with him wherever he went.  After Pam’s retirement they traveled the world making it to all of the seven continents! His favorite was always Spain possibly because he loved the Sangria wine.

Steve’s idea of a “great night” was a trip to Wendover with a margarita, or two, or three, a Fajita dinner and gambling late into the night, he was always lucky when gambling.

Steve had many good lifelong friends, some who were at his side for more than 70 plus years.  He will be missed by many.

Steve is survived by his wife Pam, son-in-law Tom, grandchildren Kira (Ale), Mikhelle (Nick), TJ (Sam), great grandchildren Kinley and Jonathan, and a special nephew Brian (Melanie).

He was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Boyd, son Sean, daughter Jennifer, grandson Christopher.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
