Steven Jay Beckstead

Steven Jay Beckstead, 58, of Washington Terrace, passed away on January 24, 2023.

Steven was born on July 26, 1964 to LaVerl J. Beckstead and Carol Flint in Ogden, Utah.

Steven graduated from Bonneville High School in 1982.

He married Paige Hancock in 1984.  They were blessed with a son, Bray and were later divorced.

He began his welding career at Clearfield Conveyor and went on to work for Thiokol doing welding on the casing for the solid rocket boosters. He also went to work for Petersen Manufacturing until landing a job at HAFB. He was an excellent welder, and was often recognized for his superior work. He retired in 2022. 

In his younger years, he loved to play softball with his friends and was known to many as “Hollywood” because of his style and confident attitude.  He enjoyed golf, snow skiing, snowboarding, riding motorcycles and ATV’s.

Steven loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Utah Jazz.  Every game day he had a ritual, and those who knew him know what that entailed.  He was a member of the Republican party, a true patriot who loved his country, and cherished the values needed to keep our country strong.

Steven loved being a father to Bray and grandfather to Brax and Bode.  His main purpose in life was loving his family and making sure they were provided for.

Steven was an incredible worker and a true friend to many.  He would give you the shirt off his back, lend a listening ear and was always there to help anyone in need. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his son, Bray and in Steven’s words, “his two beautiful grandsons,” Brax and Bode Beckstead. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 30, 2023, at 11:00 a. m.  at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36^th St. Ogden, Utah.  There will be a viewing from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.  Interment will be at Leavitt’s Mortuary Aultorest Memorial Park.
