Steven D. Bessinger's Obituary

Steven D. Bessinger passed away on September 9, 2017. He has gone to be with his sweetheart and we are sure there is a glorious reunion. Steven was born August 27, 1943, in Brigham City, UT to Clarence Bessinger and Nondus Larsen Holland. He ran the streets of Brigham with his brothers, Ron, Lee, Neil, Mike, and sister Sharon (Jim) Moffitt. The stories that have been told are legendary. Steve graduated from Box Elder High School and enlisted in the Army. On April 12, 1968, he married the love of his life, LouAnn Newton in the Logan LDS temple. Together they raised two amazing boys who are his pride and joy. Steve worked his entire life in the food service industry at multiple restaurants in the area, Weber State, Job Corp, Davis Hospital, and Ogden Community Action. He was very active in the Lions International Organization and received the Melvin Jones award for his service. Steve volunteered many years in the youth recreation program with his boys. He ran the concessions at youth recreation and for many years with Terrace Days. He was always called upon to help with the ward dinners and they were always the best food around. He could cook up a spaghetti dinner for hundreds and no one ever went hungry! Steve was known to give anyone all that he had. He brought many young people home with him and provided them a home and guidance to improve their lives. Steve would often be found puttering in the yard, teasing the kids, humming and whistling, listening to music or watching British comedies and working hard at the concession stand. Steve is survived by his sons, Daniel (Jennifer), West Haven, and Tracy (Cami), Washington Terrace; four beautiful grandchildren who he loved dearly: Kassie (Cameron), Bailey, Spencer, and Boston. He is also survived by four brothers and his sister, their spouses, his brother-in-law, Jan Wynn and numerous nieces and nephews.
