Steven Kent CallSteven Kent Call, passed away on July 28, 2011, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on November 26, 1943, in Ogden, Utah, the son of Steven LaMar and Jeanne Gibbons Call. Kent married his eternal companion RaNae White on February 15, 1968 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Kent and RaNae settled in Farr West and raised five children.Kent was raised in Washington Terrace and Sunset, and graduated from Davis High School. He also graduated from Weber State College. Kent retired after 35 years with the State of Utah Division of Youth Corrections. He was a great example to the youth all of his life. He loved sports and was a volunteer statistician for the Weber State Athletic Department, for 43 years. He spent many hours following his grandchildrens sports teams and was always their biggest fan. Kent had a love for singing and writing, having written many poems for his family and loved ones.He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings, being a missionary at all times. As a young man he served a full time LDS Mission in the Central Atlantic States Mission and the last 4 years as a guest service missionary on Temple Square alongside his eternal companion. Talking with people came natural to Kent and he made friends everywhere he went. He devoted his life to his family, especially his sweet grandchildren. His family and friends will miss him greatly. Kent is survived by his wife, RaNae and children: Carol Reid (Andru), American Fork, Gregory Kent (Elizabeth)Call, South Ogden, Curtis Brent(Kamylee) Call, Sandy, Teresa Meyers (Steve), Harrisville, Celeste Cragun (Rhees), Farr West, 12 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Also surviving Kent are his sisters: Kathy Heinze (Lynn), Susan Petersen (Roger), Joan Carpenter (Von) and Marjean Jolley (Michael). He was preceded in death by his parents Steven LaMar and Jeanne Gibbons Call. A viewing will be held at the Farr West Poplar Stake Center, 1745 North 2300 West, Farr West, on Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing one hour prior also at the Stake Center. Interment will be held at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the LDS Missionary Fund.
