Obituary

Susan "Susie/Nana" Kay Alexander, 68, of North Ogden, Utah passed away on January 31, 2024, with her family by her side after a long battle with her health. Susan was born on January 27, 1956, to Norris Wendell Warner and Arietta Mae Madison in Ainsworth, Nebraska. Her family later moved to Mesa, Arizona where she spent her childhood and teen years and where she developed a love for horses that she later shared with her granddaughter.

After Susan graduated from Mesa High School in 1974, she attended Mesa Community College and then Weber State University where she graduated with a degree in Dental Hygiene in 1980. Susan later returned to Weber State University and earned her Master of Education in 2006.

After graduating with a degree in Dental Hygiene, Susan worked as a dental hygienist for over 28 years. In 2004 Susan decided to step away from private practice to work at her Alma Mater, Weber State University, as an Associate Professor of Dental Hygiene until she retired in April 2022. During her time at Weber State University, Susan sat on various committees, received many awards, including the Dumke College of Health Profession Teacher of the Year, and volunteered for and supervised many community events.

When Susan moved to Utah she met the love of her life, Jack, at a local rodeo, and on January 14, 1978, the two tied the knot at the First United Methodist Church in Ogden, Utah. Susan and Jack later became the proud parents of Natasha Henry and Dane Alexander. The two of them built a home filled with love and laughter and welcomed everyone with open arms, a smile and a plate of food. Susan and Jack built a marriage that withstood the test of time and spent a wonderful 47 years together in this life and their hearts will be tied together forever.

Susan's greatest joy was becoming a Nana to her two grandchildren, Boston Henry and Lincoln Henry, who she loved deeply and will continue to watch over them as their Guardian Angel. Susan was a master at creating her own recipes and even better at sharing the meals with the people she loved. She cherished baking with Boston and Lincoln and enjoyed letting them make messes in her

kitchen. Susan had a green thumb and spent many summers tending to her herb gardens and collecting flamingos. Some of her happiest moments were being with her family, children and grandchildren, her work within the community, and guiding her Weber State University Dental Hygiene students, but most of all she loved spending time and sharing a life with her husband, Jack.

Anyone that met Susan loved her. She was incredibly smart with an even bigger heart and the most beautiful smile. She was positive and kind and had a gift for being the grounding force in any situation. Susan will always be remembered for the love and support she gave to so many, and she truly left her mark on this world as she brought an extra spark into the lives of everyone she came across. Susan has held many hats in her life such as wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, but most of all she was an incredible woman who gave more than she took and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Susan was preceded in death by her father Norris, mother Arietta and favorite dog and cat, Loki and Fletcher. She is survived by Jack Alexander (husband), Natasha Henry (daughter), Boston Henry and Lincoln Henry (grandchildren), Dane Alexander (son), Michael Warner (brother), Heidi (Stephen) Logan (niece), Stacy (William) McBride (niece), April (Patrick) Holland (niece), her favorite cousin Ann Appelt and the rest of her Nebraska family who she loved dearly.

A celebration of life will be held at the Copper Nickel (2450 Grant Ave, Ogden, Utah) on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 10am-1pm to honor and celebrate Susan's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Susan K. Alexander Dental Hygiene Endowment Scholarship, which was created to carry on Susan's legacy so she can continue supporting her students.
