Obituary

Susan T. Hadley, age 82, of Clearfield, UT, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, while residing at Our House Assisted Living in Ogden, UT.

Susan was born on February 27, 1944, in Radisson, WI, to John and Agnes Topol. She spent her childhood on her family's dairy farm, City View Farm in Barron, WI, where she developed the strong work ethic, resilience, and servant's heart that would define her life. From a young age, Susan helped tend gardens, milk cows, work in the fields, care for livestock, and assist with countless farm chores. Though the work was demanding, she often reflected fondly on the lessons of responsibility, faith, and family learned during those years.

Susan discovered a love of music at age ten when she began piano lessons and continued to play throughout her life, often using hymn books and a treasured pump organ her mother found for the family. She also possessed a creative spirit and artistic talent, later completing an art correspondence course and contributing artwork, missionary banners, and murals for church productions, roadshows, and community events. She was also commissioned to create paintings and drawings that showcased her artistic gifts.

After graduating from high school, Susan moved to Chicago, IL, to live with her sister Rosemary, where she worked for Motorola in a typing pool. In January 1963, she moved to Utah. Then on February 28th,1963, she married Boyd A. Hadley in the Logan Utah Temple following his return from serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where they built a home centered on faith, family, and service.

Susan devoted many years to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother. She later assisted with bookkeeping for the family business and remained deeply involved in her church callings and community throughout her life. Her many acts of service included serving as a Cub Scout leader, member of the Relief Society presidency, Activity Days leader, 4-H leader, Stake Primary worker, and Stake Activities Specialist, just to name a few. She particularly enjoyed teaching young women crochet and knitting and was instrumental in organizing choirs and activities that brought people together.

Susan had a deep love for the Savior Jesus Christ. Those who knew Susan will remember her Christlike attributes, that included charity, humility, patience, kindness, quiet strength, creativity, unwavering faith, and willingness to serve others. She found joy in music, art, family gatherings, and helping those around her. Her influence will continue to be felt in the lives of all who were blessed to know and love her. Both Susan and Boyd also thoroughly enjoyed serving a Church Service mission together at the Conference Center for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In her later years, Susan faced Parkinson's disease with courage, grace, and the same quiet determination that characterized her entire life.

Susan's legacy of faith, service, creativity, and love will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Susan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Boyd A. Hadley; her parents, John and Agnes Topol; and her 13-month-old sister, Faith Topol. We take comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those she loved and missed so dearly.

Susan is survived by her brother Jon (Lorie) Topol of Orem, UT; her sister Rosemary Hammond of Bountiful, UT; her children Vince (Tiffany) Hadley of Moscow, ID, Amy (Bill Murray) Berry of Fairfax, VA, Vicki (John) Humphries of Elgin, SC, Brian (Sunnie) Hadley of Bountiful, UT, and Chris (Mandy) Hadley of Clearfield, UT; 19 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Susan's family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, staff, and friends at Abbington Senior Living of Layton and Our House Assisted Living of Ogden for their kindness, companionship, and compassionate care.
