Susie Alrid McIntosh, 98, passed away on July 13, 2013 at her home in Ogden, Utah. Susie was born to Jesse and Martha Alrid on September 20, 1914 in Fort Gibson, Ohio.
She attended Langston University in Guthrie, OK majoring in History and minoring in English. She also attended Weber State College where she received credits in Child Development.
Susie was married to Carl Jo McIntosh on January 2, 1937. They were later divorced but remained good friends.
Susie has been employed by the United States Dept. of Commerce, Census Bureau, USU Extension Service and is presently the Ogden Area Community Action Head Start Director. She is a past member of the : OACAA Board of Trustees, The Area and Residence Councils, Weber County Voluntary Action Committee, The Governors Black Policy Council, Ogden City Schools Planning Committee, Weber County Council on Aging, The Utah State Advisory Committee for the Education of Black Students, The Weber State College Vocational Education Committee. Mrs. McIntosh was a lifetime member of NAACP Ogden Branch.
Susie is survived by three daughters: Carole, Marian & Sandra , 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Susie was preceded in death by her son, Carl McIntosh Jr., her parents and a grandson, Mark McIntosh.
Funeral services will be held at Leavitts Mortuary 836 36th Street, Ogden Utah on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 1:30 pm. There will be a viewing on Sunday July 21st from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Monday from 12:15 pm to 1:15 pm prior to services.
Interment will be in the Ogden City Cemetery.
