Sylvia Michelle Orosco

Sylvia passed away July 15, 2020, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was born November 9, 1952, to Juanita and Joe Orosco in Ogden, Utah.

The old saying “Big things come in small packages” was written just for her. Those who knew her will remember what a spitfire she was, but down inside her heart overflowed with love and compassion. Her husband and family were her top priority and the love and dedication she had for them was endless.

Sylvia worked for the Ogden City Police Department; it was there she met many friends through her 30-year career.

She loved her Savior with all her being and held fast until her passing. Our hearts are at peace knowing she is reunited with the loved ones who have gone before her, especially her “Mama,” who she missed and thought of constantly.

Sylvia is survived by her husband Jess; siblings Michael, Rene (Jeanine), Gloria (Felicia) and Fernando (Carolyn); as well as her tias, tios, cousins, and many, many friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and aides who took such wonderful care of her throughout her illness. Her siblings cannot begin to thank her husband Jess for all the love and caring he gave to her throughout their marriage and especially during her illness.

Friends and family may call at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT on Monday, July 20, 2020, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and Tuesday, July 21 from 9:00 – 9:45 am, prior to Graveside Services at 10:00 am. Due to COVID-19 masks are required for attendance.

I had the pleasure of getting to know spitfire Sylvia when I was caring for her sweet mother, even though she went camping with our family almost every year with my aunt tracy. To Sylvias family I am so sorry for your loss. She was a fantastic spirit to be around and will be greatly missed by many.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Sylvia this past week. She was always a pistol at work who spoke her mind and cared for everyone. She has always been a special friend to our family and will be greatly missed. Our condolences to Jess and the entire Orosco family in loss of Sylvia.

Sylvia, I am at a complete loss for words. I cannot believe you're really gone. To say you were a spectacular lady is a complete understatement! I am so grateful for having the opportunity to get to know you and to call you my friend. I will miss you the only thing that comes close to giving me peace is the fact that I know your happy once again because your with you mom. I know how much she has always meant to you and how hard it was on you when she passed. Jess you also meant a great deal to Sylvia, there wasn't a day that went by that she didn't tell me how much she loved you and how much you spoiled her!! Rest in peace my friend until we meet again.
Sincerely,
Teresa Perkins

Sylvia, my friend I am so sad and at a loss for words. I'll never forget the day you sat next to me on the Front Runner, we were both on our way to work, you said you noticed my St. Padre Pio medallion and knew I had to be Catholic. That was the first of many train rides together, where we grew close and I came to love you and your sweet devoted husband, Jessie, who was always waiting for you on the platform when the train pulled in. I will miss you and your wonderfully fun and crazy personality, never a dull moment with you! Rest In Peace Sylvia, God Bless!

My heart is heavy with grief. I have so many good memories of our time spent together. I will never forget our September trips to Vegas. Getting all dressed up, the limo ride, champagne overflowing on our way to The Mariachi Concert! It doesnt end there, the next morning it was coffee and baileys by the pool and of course you telling us who the best was, your favorite Mariachi Sol.

We will hang on to the memories for now. Keeping you close in our hearts.
Until we meet again my friend. Love you, Carlotta
