Obituary

The strongest woman we knew just proved it one last time.

Teresa Harris, a proud U.S. Army veteran, left us at 67 on January 19, 2026, after staring down ALS with the same fierce compassion she gave everyone else. She was kindness in human form—and tougher than the disease ever was.

Born October 9, 1958, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Teresa served her country in the Army before dedicating her life to putting others first—selfless, compassionate, and endlessly giving.

Beloved Mother, Nana, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, she is survived by her children: daughter Ashley (Justin) DeCaro, sons Austin (Tyler) Bottema, John (Crystal & children) Hansen, and Brandon (Susanne & children) Johnson; her cherished grandchildren Ayden-Michael, Jayley Mae, Hurley, and Ripp; and her siblings Tina (Jeff) Hoskins, Lori (Dave) Cooper, and Bob (Lanette) Leishman.

She was preceded in death by her brother Jimmy Trundle, her mother Patsy Jean Goodson, and her father Robert Lee Trundle.

Above all, Teresa was the most devoted Nana imaginable—her love for her grandkids was a force so vast and tender it defies explanation. She lived for their laughter, their hugs, their little triumphs and big dreams; every moment with them lit her up from the inside out, wrapping them in a warmth and security that will echo in their hearts forever. No words could ever fully capture how completely she adored them, how fiercely she protected them, and how deeply she cherished every second they shared. They were her greatest joy, her proudest legacy, and the light that carried her through even the hardest days.

Her gentle heart extended to all living creatures—she had a profound love for animals of every kind, with a special, magical affection for birds, especially the tiny, shimmering hummingbirds that always seemed to bring her joy.

Teresa faced ALS with a grace that inspired us all, never losing her selfless heart or unbreakable spirit. Her quiet strength, boundless love, and service to others touched everyone she met.

In lieu of flowers, consider an act of kindness in her name, hugging your loved ones a little tighter (especially the little ones), putting out a hummingbird feeder, or supporting ALS research or veterans' causes.

She was truly one of a kind—gentle, fierce, and forever in our hearts.
