Theodore "Ted" Peter Salerno passed away on March 1, 2013 from complications due to dementia. He was born September 27, 1932 in Ogden, Utah to Peter A. and Jennie Vessa Salerno. He was a graduate of Ogden High School in 1950. He then was a Naval Reserve from 1950 to 1958, serving one of those years in the Philippine Islands; during the Korean War. Ted was a masonry contractor of Salerno Masonry.Ted was manager of Nordic Valley Resort from 1976 and stayed involved until the resort was sold to Wolf Mountain. He loved the outdoors, water and snow skiing. He was a member of Nordic Valley ski patrol from 1973 to 1978. He was Utahs overall Water Ski Champion in 1966,67,68,69 and 1972. He spent many summers at Manuta; camping with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing the piano. He was an artist at bricklaying as well as being a handyman. There was nothing broken that he couldnt fix.Ted is survived by his wife, Donna and daughters: Pam (Brent) Clark, Layton, Utah; Cindy (Brett) Siddoway, Hooper, Utah; Celeste Salerno, California; step daughter Rikkie Coley, Ogden, Utah. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Joshua, Zachary and Skyelee Lamano; Angie, Colby and Brady Siddoway; Kennedy Coley and 5 great grandchildren: Dagen, Dominick, Boston, Carter and Kashyln.He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and his son, Kent Salerno. Special thanks to the staff of the George Wahlen Veterans Home; especially those in D-Wing and Hospice for their exceptional care. Funeral services for Ted will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. also at the mortuary.
