Thomas Drew Butterfield passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at the age of 86, at Chancellor Gardens Assisted Living Center in Clearfield, Utah.

Thomas was born on October 18, 1939, in Ogden, Utah, to Robert Thomas Butterfield and June Rogerson Houser. He was raised in Ogden and attended Ogden High School.

Over the course of his career, Thomas worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Union Pacific Railroad, and later with Nutraceutical Corporation, where he retired in 2007.

Thomas married Tamara Jorgenson in 1960, and together they had two daughters, Terry and Tracy. They later divorced. He married Nila Mae Housley in 1973. They spent 46 years together before her death his 2020. Together, Thomas and Nila raised three children—Lisa, Kathryn, and Troy.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing and sports—especially baseball and football. He liked to act grumpy, but his warmth and sense of humor were well known and loved by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters Tracy Storey (Darren) of Roy, Utah; Lisa Gregersen of Kaysville, Utah; and Kathryn Saunders (Andrew) of Layton, Utah; as well as 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gary Kennedy; his wife, Nila Mae Housley; his son, Troy Butterfield; and his daughter, Terry Flaherty.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah 84403. Funeral services will follow on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing prior at 10:00 a.m., also at Leavitt's Mortuary. Interment will take place at Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park in Ogden.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Chancellor Gardens Assisted Living Center for their kindness, care, and compassion—especially Lisa Warren and Kat Cheney, whose friendship and attentive care brought comfort and joy to Thomas in his final years.
