Thomas Alan Spanarkel, 69, passed away February 13, 2019. He was born on July 11, 1949 to Robert W. and Alice Spanarkel in Jersey City, New Jersey. He graduated from Port Richmond High School.
Tom was a loving son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a compassionate man who touched the lives of many.
Tom started his military career with the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed at Clark Air Force Base, Philippines in 1972 and had a son. Tom continued his military career where he served honorably and received many recognitions. Following his military career, he transitioned into working for the government as a Civil Service Aerospace Engineering Technician at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.
Afterwards Tom decided to settle in Utah where he lived for over 30 years. During that time, he enjoyed doing photography, fishing, cooking, golfing, traveling, but most enjoyed times with his friends.
Thomas is survived by his son Gerald (Sophia) Spanarkel, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Tom will always be remembered, and he will be sorely missed.
A gathering to celebrate Toms life will be on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. 7:30 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden, UT 84403.
