Thomas Andrew Stevenson, known fondly as Tom to his friends and family, embarked on his final joyride through the pearly gates on July 22, 2025, after 73 years of laughter-filled life. Born on October 5, 1951, in the scenic town of Ogden, UT, he was a true local through and through, both coming into this world and departing from it in the same beloved city.

Tom was the epitome of the phrase "he never met a stranger," and his selfless nature was only matched by his unparalleled sense of humor. He'd often say that he had a degree in Automotive Specialist from Weber State University, but his real PhD was in storytelling, with a minor in practical jokes. He was the life of any party, and even in somber times, he had a knack for finding a way to make you smile.

After graduating from high school in 1969 and swiftly completing his formal education, Tom steered his way into the heart of the automotive industry. His career journey began at Uintah Freightliners in 1978, where he was not just a driver but the unofficial morale booster. In 1993, he shifted gears to TNT United Truck Lines, and eventually cruised into retirement from USF Reddaway in 2015. His colleagues remember him not just for his work ethic but for his uncanny ability to lighten the mood with a perfectly timed joke or a hearty laugh.

Tom's heart, however, belonged to his family. His beloved wife, Janie Stevenson, was his co-pilot in life, and together they navigated the joys and challenges of raising three daughters and one son: Brenda Jodray, Steven Stevenson (Ronda), Andrea Kozerski (Mike), and Julie Stevenson (Andy). His legacy includes a whopping 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom inherited his sparkling eyes and mischievous grin.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents Thomas & Mary Lou, Michael (brother), Linda (sister), Debra (sister), Mike (brother-in-law), Bill (nephew), and grandson Connor.

When it came to interests, Tom was a simple man with a passion for the little things in life. His grandchildren and great-grandkids were his favorite hobby, closely followed by his love for fixing cars. He was the guy who could turn a rusty bolt and a few spare parts into a running engine. In his younger days, Tom was known to be an avid hunter and fisherman, but as time went on, he traded his fishing rod for dog leashes, enjoying long walks with his trusty canine companions, Rudy and Cujo.

Describing Tom is easy; he was the funny guy who was always ready with a joke, the selfless soul who would drop everything to help you out, and the handyman who could fix anything with an engine or a heartbeat. He was the man who taught us all that laughter truly is the best medicine.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Tom on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT 84403. Tom was a blue jeans and button-up shirt kind of guy, so casual dress is welcome.
