Vallie Lawrence (Larry) Christiaens, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend passed away peacefully at age 78 on Thursday, August 22nd, 2013.
Born November 30th, 1934, Larry or Chris, as most people knew him, was primarily raised in Ogden, Utah. He was an only child that played and excelled in wrestling and football during high school. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Carol Davis, and they had six beautiful children together. He also attended college in Utah as well as Stanford University in California.
He worked numerous jobs throughout his life, including becoming a regional manager at the Standard Oil Company of California, owning and running his own car wash, and eventually fulfilling a childhood dream of his by opening and running his own gun shop in Klamath Falls, Oregon. While in Oregon, he married Sharron Marie King, and they had two children together. Most of his adult life was spent in California and Oregon.
His mother and father Bertha Johnson and Michael Christiaens, two twin daughters Tawnie and Bonnie Christiaens, and a grandchild preceded him in death. He will be remembered as a wonderful and generous father, a firearm & outdoor enthusiast, a Western movie fanatic, and a devoted family man who loved spending time with family and friends. He will be sorely missed.
His wife Sharron Christiaens and six children survive Chris: sons Steve (Glenda) Christiaens, Larry (Megan) Christiaens and Todd (Jordan) Christiaens; daughters Kris (Dean) Warner, Debbie (Frank) Grant and Tracie (Greg) Chandler. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
