VeLayne May Bachman Davis

VeLayne May Bachman Davis, 93, of West Warren, passed from this life on April 4, 2022.  VeLayne was born September 12, 1928, in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of loving parents Walter C. Bachman and Vivian I. Monson Bachman.  She was blessed with a special relationship with her Aunt Edith Bachman Nelson and later also blessed with a kind step-father Paul E. Bohon.

VeLayne attended Ogden City Schools.  On February 22, 1947, she married J. Ervin Davis in her Mother’s home.  VeLayne and Ervin were blessed with six children and enjoyed rearing them on the family farm in West Warren.  She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in many positions. Her favorite callings always included the children of the Primary.

VeLayne was blessed with, and developed, many talents.  She was a talented seamstress and shared that gift with many personally, and also professionally, concluding her career in the drapery department of Van Kampen & Sons.  VeLayne happily shared many of her other talents as well.  She was a wonderful Homemaker who enjoyed baking, decorating wedding cakes, gardening, camping and teaching the youth in the Scouting and 4-H programs.

Most of all she loved being a mother and grandmother.  She treasured the children and played on the floor with them into her 90s.  She was an avid learner, who started piano lessons at age 80, and who always shared what knowledge she had recently learned. Her great love and compassion will be missed by many, and her positive influence will remain in the lives of a concourse of people in all walks of life.  Her smile and unending love will remain in our lives forever.  If you knew VeLayne, you know that you are special and loved.  She was sincerely happy and kind.

VeLayne was predeceased by her parents, her eternal companion J. Ervin Davis, daughter Martha, brothers Elwood Bachman, Larry Bachman, Kenneth Bohon, and great granddaughter Ester Rose Davis.

She is survived by sisters Ruth Reading, Susie Bailey, and children Eldon (Susan), Brent (Jody), Neil (Pat), Russell (Tina) all of West Warren and Celia (Michael) Green of Evanston Wyoming.  VeLayne leaves 21 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren along with many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.
