Velma Dingley Halfacre passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016. Velma was born on May 13, 1928 on Mothers Day to John Calvin and Mattie Ellen Morris Dingley in Hibbard, Idaho.
When Velma was 16 she and her parents moved to Ogden, Utah. She worked at the Navy Base in Sunset, Utah where she met and married Ray Halfacre in January of 1946.
She later worked at Hill Air Force Base until 1958 when she went to Keflavik, Iceland. She was Miss Melody for the Air Force Radio Station in 1959.
Upon leaving Iceland she settled in Bedford, Massachusetts in 1964. She worked at Hanscom Air Force Base until retiring in 1984. She received many awards for her outstanding service. She then worked for two government contractors in Bedford, Massachusetts until she retired in 1999 after 52 years of service.
Velma is survived by her son, Ronald Halfacre of Kenai, Alaska; nephews, David, Bradley and Jon Winquist of Ogden, Utah; sister, Beverly Winquist of Ogden, Utah.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; three infant sisters; aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was loved by many for her kind generous nature. She will be greatly missed and always in our memories.
Interment at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
