Venice Carson Flygare, 86, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2012, in Ogden, after a courageous battle with Alzheimers Disease.She was born on July 19, 1925, the daughter of George Lester Carson and Leona Flossie Wakefield in Burley, Idaho.Venice was raised on a large ranch, 16 miles north of Grouse Creek, Utah. She loved being with her sister Adele.Having graduated from Ogden High School in 1943, she came to work as a switchboard operator/typist in the U.S. Employment Office in Ogden, and there she met her eternal sweetheart, Harold Flygare.They were married on September 13, 1947 in Los Angeles and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 26, 1952. They spent more than 55 years together until Harold passed away in 2002. Venice put family first and was always caring for those she loved.She had traveled all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Hawaii, New Zealand, Fiji and Australia. She especially enjoyed crafts, decorating cakes, family trips/gatherings, and her dear friends. She also created many unique porcelain dolls.Venice was a charter member of the Mount Ogden Chapter of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Ward Relief Society President, homemaking leader, teacher and many other callings. She also transcribed patriarchal blessing for the Ogden East Stake.She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Adele, her husband Harold and her oldest son Glenn.Venice is survived by two sons, Mark (Kathleen) Flygare, Galway, Ireland; Dale (Pam) Flygare, Vaughn, Washington; a daughter, LeAnn (Lynn) Arave, Layton, Utah; and a daughter-in-law, Susan Flygare, Ogden. She has 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.The family would like to thank all of her caregivers, especially Robert from Alpine Hospice.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 17 at 11:00 am at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden.Viewings will be held Friday, March 16 from 6:00-8:00 pm and Saturday, March 17 from 10:00-10:45 am prior to the service.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.leavittsmortuary.com
