Obituary

Vera Marjorie Browning passed away peacefully on June 18th, 2024 a couple weeks shy of her 87th birthday in Marriott Slaterville, Utah.

Vera was born to Albert and Ellen Stephenson on July 3rd 1937 in Scarborough, England. She grew up helping her father on the farms and avoiding school. However, she did manage to graduate school at the age of 15 and went on to secretarial school.

When she was ten years old, she moved to Birstall where her family took in lodgers that happened to be missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. On March 11th 1949 she was baptized.

At 17, she moved to London where she lived with Mary Harling and then with Edna Johnson. In 1955 she boarded the Queen Elizabeth I and emigrated to the United States, arriving in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 6th, 1956.

She married Cyral M. Neeley on January 30, 1958, in the Logan, Utah Temple. They had five sons and one daughter. They raised their family in Marriott-Slaterville for 36 years until they were divorced. She worked for Weber High Seminary for many years where she created lasting relationships with the students and the teachers.

Years later she married Eugene Delmar Browning on June 7th 2003. Together, they served in the Jacksonville, Florida LDS mission from April 20th 2005 to March 2007.

Vera loved reading, word games, sewing, and puttering around Ogden with her friend Edna. To her grand-children, she is known to be the "Spit" Champion of the world (Card Game). She would out play, outwit, and was faster than any of them in the game. She was relentless. She unselfishly served in many Church callings throughout her life including Relief Society President, Missionary, and her most favorite, nursery leader. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nora, and her husband Eugene Delmar Browning.

She is survived by her children: C. Milton Neeley, Albert (Crystal) Neeley, Jorie (Michael) Phillips, Chris Neeley, Andrew (Denise) Neeley, Glen (Laura) Neeley, by many grandchildren and great grandchildren that were near and dear to her heart. She is also survived by her sister, Tina (Tom) Medler.

Her Celebration of Life will be on her birthday, July 3rd, 2024, at the Marriott-Slaterville City Hall Park, 1570 W 400 N, Marriott-Slaterville, Utah 84404, at 11:00 a.m.

Her family would like to thank anyone that made her life a little bit brighter. She loved with her whole heart and would want you to know she appreciated it.
