Verl Rasmussen, the second of five children born to Clifford and Bliss Rasmussen, lost his battle with cancer on July 8th, surrounded by his loving family. Verl was born in Huntsville, Utah on August 10, 1932. He attended Weber High School. At a young age, he developed a curiosity and passion about all things mechanical; particularly cars. He eventually became a machinist, retiring from HAFB in 1992. He married Yvonne Palmer on January 23, 1955. Verl and Yvonne had six children and were together for the remainder of his lifetime. Throughout that time, Verls passion for cars never diminished. He raced them in the early years and was one of the original members of the Wasatch Rods and Customs Car Club. Tinkering with cars was his passion, and although he was not quick to complete projects, he was both thorough, meticulous and had endless patience. He enjoyed road trips with other car enthusiasts and club members, seeing much of the Western United States. Traveling with family was also an important part of Verls life. He made numerous trips to Disney World spending quality time with children and grand children. Verl is survived by his wife, Yvonne; his daughter Judy (Kelly) Maxwell; sons Randy (Chris), Russell (Julie), Mike (Lori), Matt (Stacie), and daughter in-law Sandy; Sister Dorothy; brothers Robert, Duane, and Terry; seventeen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his faithful companion Koko. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Johnny. Verl was always willing to help anyone in need in any way that he could. He lived a long and full life and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. A viewing will be held on Friday July 12, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary at 836 36th Street in Ogden, Utah. Cremation under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary. A burial will be held at a later date.
