Obituary

"Well done good and faithful servant." These are the words Verle A Shore heard on the afternoon of August 16th, 2024.

Verle was born August 29th, 1938 in Denver, CO. He was the firstborn child to Vern and Dorothy Shore. He had 3 younger siblings, Jaxine, Mark and Bonnie. The family moved to a farm in a small town outside of Durango, Co. Verle loved growing up on the farm with his siblings and cousins who lived close by. He learned the value of hard work and helping others.

His parents were committed to going to church every Sunday even in the middle of winter, after milking the cows and feeding the animals. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior when he was a young boy and in high school he committed his life to serving God full time. He attended Wheaton College and then Denver Seminary to earn his masters of divinity.

It was in Denver where he met his bride of 64 yrs Darlene Goldenstein. 5 yrs after wedding, they ended up moving to Southern Brazil where they served God by planting churches and proclaiming God's love and salvation to the Brazilians. After 20 yrs in Brazil they moved to San Jose, CA to continue ministering to the Portuguese people there.

As they considered their retirement years Verle wanted to settle in Durango where his roots were but Darlene vetoed that and they moved to Ogden, UT instead, to be closer to their son Tim and his family. They were involved in Washington Heights Church from day one. Verle sang in the choir and went on several mission trips. He was an amazing artist and loved painting in his golden years. He was also very musical. He played the piano, guitar and taught himself the accordion.

Verle was an engaged & caring father to Tim, Dan and Becky and modeled to them what a man of God looks like. He was also a terrific grandpa to six grandsons and one granddaughter.

Those who knew Verle knew he loved God and loved people but most of all he loved telling people about God. He wanted everyone to know how much God loved them. We rejoice with the angels that Verle is now in heaven with his Savior.
