Verna Jean Criswell November 4, 1929 - April 18, 2015 Our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and dearest friend passed away peacefully on April 18, 2015 surrounded by her family. Verna was born on November 4, 1929 and raised in Richfield, Utah. She is the youngest child of James Earl and Lovina Hansen. Verna married Lamar Gale Criswell on May 3, 1951 and had five children. She enjoyed her career as a Sales Professional at Sears & Roebucks and retired after 26 years of dedicated service. Grandma Vern loved arts and crafts, bingo, traveling, golfing, bowling, skiing, and winning at card games. Everyone who played a game of Scitty Scat (aka) "31" with her remembers her famous saying, "There aint no cryin in scitty-scat!" Life was an adventure for her and she lived everyday to the fullest. Tending to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing cards with her dear friends, cooking for her family and visiting with her loved ones were the times she enjoyed the most. Grandma Verns loving spirit was infectious and you could always catch her humming at home. Her laugh was contagious and she touched everyone she met with her sense of humor and quick wit, which will be deeply missed. Verna is survived by her loving children: Gale Jean Croft (Doug), Ogden, Mary Lee Libro (Dennis), Nevada, Donna Harline-Ferro (Mike) Ogden, Sam Criswell (MaryAnne), Texas, Marty Criswell (Lori), Ogden; 13 grandchildren: Brett Buttars (April), Rainie Andrus (Stewart), Lenny Martinez (Brian), Chad Buttars (Jennie), Eric Buttars, David Buttars (Sarah), Erica VanAarle (Patrick), Elizabeth Stuart (Aaron), Megan Criswell (Steven Grohman), Lindsey Criswell (Patrick Harris), Kelby Criswell (Jessica), Keaton Criswell (Melissa), and Kade Criswell; and 31 great-grandchildren. Verna is preceded in death by her brothers: Clyde, Neal, and Boyd; her four sisters: Sylvia, Wanda, Norma, and Joyce; and great-granddaughter, Ashley Brooke Morgan. A viewing will be held on Wednesday April 22, 2015 at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Verna will be laid to rest alongside her parents and siblings at Richfield City Cemetery, 800 North Main Street, Richfield, Utah at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 23, 2015.
