Vickie Jean Maughan, 74, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2023 after a long battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
Vickie was born on June 3, 1948 to Louis Michael Branz and Josephine Margaret Branz in Ogden, Utah. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1966. After high school Vickie married Russell M. Dalton. They had 2 children and later divorced. She later married Michael D. Maughan, and they remained married until his death in 2013.
After high school Vickie worked for her father in his dental office, and as a bank teller. Her later jobs included Director of Sales for the Ogden Hilton hotel and the Casablanca hotel in Nevada. Vickie went on to obtain her real estate license and then her broker’s license. She was working as a real estate broker for Berkshire Hathaway at the time her illness began. She always went the extra mile for her clients and work associates. She genuinely cared for people, and it showed.
As hard as she worked in her career, Vickie’s number one priority was her family. She always wanted everyone to be happy, and she would regularly go out of her way to make that happen with little acts of kindness. Her thoughtfulness is something we will all miss.
Vickie was full of life, quick-witted, and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed playing golf, cards, traveling, music, spending time with her grandchildren, and playing with her beloved dogs.
Despite her illness, Vickie never lost her positive attitude and spark. She was always smiling, laughing, and dancing! Music truly made her happy, and she loved it when someone would take her out for drives and she could turn the music up loud! She was also known to break out the dance moves whenever music was playing.
A private graveside service was held for Vickie at Leavitt's Mortuary on April 28th. We would like to thank Father Cummins for a wonderful blessing. Vickie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Michael, and 2 brothers, John and Steve. Vickie is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Douglas) Olmstead and Kami Andrus, sister Jodi Hoskins,, her brother Rod Branz, and her 3 grandchildren, Benjamin, Ethan, and Olivia.
The family would like to thank all of the caregivers at Fairfield Village of Layton for their compassionate and attentive care for mom. Knowing that she was well cared for and safe brought us great peace.
If you would like to honor Vickie, donations can be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD).
