Obituary

Virginia Lee Donovan, born October 2, 1944, in Kewanee, Illinois, passed away on July 18, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don Donovan; her stepsons Ronnie Medeiros and Mark Donovan; her parents Martha and Bernard Bradley; and her siblings Leatrice Joyce Bradly, Bernard Bradley, Joanne Johnson, and Larry Bradley.

Virginia is survived by her sisters Bonnie Jackson and Susan Winschel; her children Rhonda Shinn, Renee Landis, and Rodney Medeiros; her stepdaughters Carrie Hanson, Cheryl Keubler, Kim Kreymeier, Daniella Brooks, and Kelly Ward; her stepson Tim Donovan; along with 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.

She was born in Illinois and later moved to Arizona during junior high. She worked as the manager of the student store at the Arizona Automotive Institute until retiring in 2010. In 2011, she and Don relocated to Eden, Utah, where they lived until 2024 before moving to assisted living in Layton.

Virginia lived with a bright, unforgettable spirit. She had a calm, quiet presence—never the loudest in the room, but always making people feel seen and comfortable.

Though she loved being at home, she filled her days with the people and routines that brought her joy: Sunday church, family gatherings, and her treasured Friday hair appointments. She loved attending Renee’s softball games, going dancing and out to dinner on Friday nights, and caring for the animals she adored, as well as strays and wild animals.

Her style and tastes were uniquely her own. She loved turquoise, Southwestern décor, and holiday decorations that transformed her home into something magical. She cherished her yellow and pink rose bushes, her romance novels, and her favorite foods—cinnamon rolls for breakfast, ham and cheese sandwiches with Lay’s chips and Pepsi for lunch, Sunday cookies, and her nightly bowl of ice cream. She was a proud fan of the Diamondbacks and the Phoenix Suns, cheering them on with enthusiasm.

Virginia’s greatest joy was her family. She loved doing things with them, creating traditions and memories that will be carried forward for generations. Her warmth, humor, and unmistakable presence made every room brighter.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who knew her.

Funeral Services will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street in Ogden, on Thursday, July 23, 2026. A viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. with graveside service to follow at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
