Virginia Stirling passed away October 31, 2013, in South Ogden, Utah. She was born on February 10, 1921, in Los Angeles, California, to Alfred and Grace (Pierce) Thiele; grew up in Alhambra, and lived her entire life in Southern California until she moved to South Ogden in 2009. She was married in 1940 to her high school sweetheart, Terence Morgan Stirling. Virginia and Terry enjoyed traveling, both in the US and around the world, especially in Mexico, England, other parts of Europe, and Greece. Full of curiosity, she was an avid reader, birder, genealogist, watercolorist, and calligrapher at various times in her life, and was fascinated by politics, history, and geology. Other than her family and friends, her greatest love was music: playing piano, a little composing, singing, and listening to every kind of music. She was a member of the Golden Spike Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry, and is survived by her daughters Patricia (Walter) Bausman (South Ogden) and Janet Stirling (St. George, Utah); her brother Richard Thiele (Riverton, Utah); grandsons Gregory (Tennille) Bausman and Trevor Bausman; great-grandchildren Garrett Bausman, Kelsey Filby, Kailey Filby, and Brooks Marshall; and nephews Bradley Thiele and Robert (Kathy) Thiele. Virginias family thanks the caring people at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living, and Symbii Home Health & Hospice for their kind attention. Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 9, 11:00 a.m. at Leavitts Mortuary (836 36th Street, Ogden); later interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California, beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to your favorite charity. Cremation under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary.
