IN LOVING MEMORY OF
W. Blaine
Noorlander
May 15, 1940 – July 5, 2025
William Blaine Noorlander passed away on July 5, 2025 at the age of 85. He was born May 15, 1940, in Ogden, Utah, the seventh child of John Henry Noorlander and Minnie (Wipkje) Vander Woude. He grew up in Huntsville, Utah graduating from Weber High School. He served in the U.S. Army at the Nike Missile Site near Gardner, Kansas. And then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Netherlands Mission. Later he served with his wife Marsha at the Bishop's Storehouse/Dry Pack Cannery and Jefferson 3rd Ward, Spanish as ESL/Support service missionaries. He served in a variety of callings including a Temple Prep Class in the South Ogden 6th Ward that he really enjoyed.
He married Marsha Ann Forsgren on April 22, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple. They resided in Huntsville and were blessed with four daughters, Peggy Urry (Scott), Mindy Holman (Cory), Jodi Ford (Barrett), and Diana Banta (Michael). Later they moved to Ogden. He was neighborly with others and any were always welcome.
Blaine worked many jobs including Grand Central, Sears, Huntsville Town, GSL and Ogden City School District at Polk Elementary, Mountain View Elementary and District Maintenance. He enjoyed his associations with Beehive Rock Club on rock hounding trips and earned the nickname 'Snakebite' because of a crazy story he told after an incident during one of the trips. Creating items from silverware and polished rocks was a treat for him. He taught the Lapidary Silversmithing class at the Golden Hours Senior Center in downtown Ogden. He was very creative and had an artistic gift. He was a great handyman and was very talented at fixing, repairing, and repurposing items to make our lives better. How he is missed!
His proudest achievement was marrying Marsha and his most important achievements were building their first home and raising his family.
His mom Minnie taught him compassion for under-privileged people and many lessons of life like hard work on the farm is rewarding. One piece of advice he received from her as he was researching family history was, "When you find things out, don't feel too bad. We all need forgiveness." He admired Edgar Allen, whom he worked with at Huntsville town and was paid a huge compliment when Edgar said, "If I had another son, I would want him to be just like you."
His stories, pranks, and quirky sense of humor will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Marsha, their daughters and spouses, twenty-two grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren, step-daughter and spouse, children and grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 10AM with a viewing an hour prior.
